Regardless of your clinical specialty, if a mass casualty incident (MCI) occurs in the community where you're working, you may be called upon to assist. This session will use real-life, recent mass casualty events as case studies to explore the vital role healthcare workers play in a hospital’s emergency response. Key topics will include disaster triage levels, understanding and operating within an incident command structure, the fundamentals of decontamination, and the complex ethical considerations that arise during crisis situations. Attendees will gain insight into how to effectively respond under pressure, contribute to coordinated care efforts, and prepare for the unexpected—equipping them to make a meaningful impact should an MCI occur.
