When a patient presents with chest pain and a 12-lead ECG is performed, it can be tempting to rely solely on the machine’s interpretation. However, this session emphasizes that without proper analysis, one cannot be certain of its accuracy. Participants will learn how to recognize critical changes on the 12-lead ECG associated with myocardial infarction. The presentation focuses on the underlying physiology of the ECG, identification of various stages of myocardial ischemia, differentiation of multiple types of myocardial infarctions, and considerations for alternate lead placements.
