Description

The in-person combined ACLS / PALS HeartCode Skills Session is a structured, hands-on evaluation conducted by AHA-certified Instructors to ensure competency, confidence, and adherence to current American Heart Association guidelines.

-Students are divided into small skills groups
-One dedicated AHA Instructor per group provides individualized instruction, coaching, and skills evaluation
-All skills are performed using AHA-approved equipment and current AHA skills testing checklists
-Students must successfully demonstrate all required skills to receive AHA ACLS and PALS Provider eCards

Typical Skills Session Timeframes:
ACLS HeartCode Skills Session: Approximately 1.5 hours
PALS HeartCode Skills Session: Approximately 1.5 hours
(timeframes may vary depending upon the total number of students)

Students are expected to arrive prepared, having completed the online ACLS and PALS HeartCode portions and reviewed all required AHA skills sheets prior to the session to ensure timely completion.

ACLS HeartCode – Skills Session Includes
Students should review the following AHA Skills Sheets before attending the skills session:
-Adult High-Quality BLS Skills Testing
-Airway Management Skills Testing Checklist
-Megacode Testing Checklist: Bradycardia
-Megacode Testing Checklist: Tachycardia

PALS HeartCode – Skills Session Includes
Students will be evaluated on pediatric-specific skills and scenarios, including:
-Child and Infant CPR Skills Testing
-Management of respiratory emergencies
-Intraosseous (IO) access

Must perform as Team Leader for:
-One cardiac core case testing scenario
-One respiratory or shock core case testing scenario
